I must admit that one of my favorite shows on tv is American Gangster. If you've never seen it, it is an hour long show that tells the story of some of America's most notorious black gangsters and criminals. They have told the story of familiar people such as Frank Lucas, John Muhammad and Lee Malvo, and Tookie Williams and people who are not as infamous such as the Smith Brothers and The Shower Posse. I like the show because it not only show you the glitz and glamour of fast living, but it also shows you the down side of a life of crime.
The other night they had the episode with Larry Hoover. Larry Hoover was the founder of the Gangster Disciples. He commited some heinous acts of crime and is in jail for all of his misdeeds. While behind bars he had an awakening and realized that all the things he had done were wrong. He wanted to become an advocate against gangs. They showed some of the young men today that are in the gang and they absolutely love the gang life that they live. One went so far as to say "I don't need nobody to come and save me. I like things just the way they are."
When I see things like that, I start to feel hopeless. It seems like there is no turning back from this destructive nature that we, as humans, have developed. Gangs, Drugs, and war all have documented history on what becomes of individuals who follow these paths yet people still have this "I don't care" attitude. Thank God my mother cared. I thank God everyday that I came from a good family where God was always first. Where being a good hard working man putting in an honest days work for all the things I desire was more admirable than breaking the law and making fast money.

New Year
Well it's that time of the year again. Thanksgiving and Christmas have come and gone and now it's about time to make pointless New Year resolutions. How many of us actually stick to what we promise ourselves, and usually others, we will change?
And another question is why do we feel as though we have to wait until a new year to change these things. Why not change what ever it is right at this second. I think we've all said to ourselves, at one time or another, "I'm gonna lose weight." Normally we don't put down whatever we are eating at the moment or take a walk or excise right away. No no usually we decide a later date, i.e. next week or after the weekend, to start this change. And I don't know about you but when I do this it usually doesn't happen.
So my New Year's resolution this year will be to act on any promise I make myself right away. What about you?

Hail Tiger Woods!
Tiger Woods is the most recognizable person in the world. He is one of the greatest golfers of all time. Tiger Woods is not God!!! Is it the fact that our lives are sooooo boring that we are so interested in other peoples personal lives? Or is it the fact that people love to see others fall? Whatever it is, we have to realize that we are all human and are prone to making the same mistakes.
TRY CLEANING UP YOUR OWN BACKYARD!!!
We place athletes and celebrities on pedestals and for what reason? Somewhere between shooting winning shots, holes in one, and making blockbuster movies we lose the fact that they are only human.
On top of that, the police seem as though they have to really make examples of them and put all of their personal business in the papers and all over the web. I've sat here and wondered why did they need to look at Tiger's medical records? He said that it wasn't a domestic dispute so why try to push the investigation forward? If it was a domestic dispute he obviously didn't want to press charges and neither did his wife so what is the point in turning a fire cracker into a nuclear bomb? There are people out there raping little kids and people getting murdered and they are too busy trying to see if Tiger and his wife were fighting.
If Tiger was cheating that's his business. If his wife decides to stay that's her business. It's just like with Kobe when everyone said "I can't believe Vanessa stayed with him." THAT'S MR. AND MRS. BRYANT'S BUSINESS!!! If you are not part of the situation then it's easy for you to say what you would do. But since you are not part of that situation then mind your business!!!

Christopher De'Angelo Rover
Today is a celebration! Five years ago my best friend's homegoing celebration was probably the hardest thing I had to endure. I sat there wondering how was I going to go on without him? Afterwards, as the years went by, I realized how selfish it was to think like that. I realized that God uses us in certain ways that we may never understand and when our work is done, he calls us home. Thank you Lord for letting me cross paths with Chris. He taught me that it was ok to be a man and be sensitive. He showed how to be myself at all times. He gave me years and years of unforgetable laughs and memories. It's not the same down here without you but I know you are looking down on us. We miss you Chris and you will never ever be forgotten. We just wanna keep making you proud. Save a place in paradise for us!!!

No Bitchassness
No matter what job you have, you should act accordingly. Lately I've seen a lot of bitchassness in the work place.
I was shopping at wal-mart the other night and two co workers were putting out merchandise. I went on the next aisle and all of a sudden the shelves started shaking to the point that a few things fell to the ground. I stopped and went around to the other aisle and the two guys that were supposed to be stocking the shelves were fighting. I thought they were serious because they were all over the ground and cursing very loudly. Then after literally about a minute of this they both stood up and laughed. WHAT??!? Yes, they just started laughing and one of them said "I'll get you next time bitch" as they walked away in opposite directions. WHY WOULD YOU BEHAVE LIKE THIS WHILE WORKING!!!!
Recently I was at burger king and the girl taking my order at the drive-thru window was talking on her cell phone when I drove around. I was sitting there waiting to pay her and she had the window closed laughing her ass off. A friend of mines once told me he was at a burger king and the girl behind the counter was talking on her cell phone and the guy standing behind him with regular clothes on went behind the counter and took his order. It turned out that he works there but was off that day but come on...
If you have any crazy stories like this please feel free to leave it in a comment or if you just have anything to say the floor is yours. Until next time...

The Court of Public Opinion...We Find The Defendant...
If the court of public opinion was a real court of law how many of you think that you would have gotten the death penalty a long time ago? It's a good thing that it's all in your mind. The court of public opinion can be very harsh MOST of the time because people usually seperate themselves and from the equation and feed off of their emotions.
We all know what Chris Brown did and trust me I do not encourage or practice hitting women but I'm sure some of you have been asking the same question that I've been asking...what was Rihanna's role in all of this? I wasn't there and I have no idea what really happened but no one has questioned her. She immediately became nothing but the victim. YES what he did was wrong but there are two sides to this story. And also what is Jay-Z's role in all of this? Why is he coming to her aid so fiercely? I mean geez is this a way to win some female fans since your album came out tuesday sept 8th(you're welcome Mr Carter by the way).
My point is this. The people who come out and want an apology from Chris Brown or Michael Vick just baffles me. Chris Brown didn't hit you and Michael Vick didn't harm your pet so why is it necessary that they give public apologies? Chris Brown should apologize to Rihanna and no one else. Michael Vick does not owe everyone in America who owns a dog an "I'm sorry".
These people are here to entertain us. They are not perfect and they are not Jesus Christ they are HUMAN. Humans mess up from time to time. The only thing people should worry about is if Chris Brown gives a good concert or has a good CD and Michael Vick should make NFL defenses look stupid every Sunday. No matter how bad the crime or what sort of lifestyle they live out side of their arenas we are not here to live in their lives just to be entertained for a little while.

A Mother's Love
There are many things in life that we cherish. A car, a house, new shoes, electronics, so on and so on. Many times we forget about the real things in life like love, friends, and family. I am guilty myself of forgetting the important things but we are all human.
Today when I woke up I had so many things on my mind. I was thinking about how to handle some of these jerks at work, what I would eat before work, and what would I be doing this weekend until my grandma said that my mom was sick.
I literally stopped in my tracks and felt my eyes watering. I started thinking about what I would do without my mother. That thought is like a dark road that I dare not proceed down. All day I thought about what is really important to me in life.
Well I must admit that I have to steal something from Terrell Owens. I recently saw the finally of the show and today what he said rang loudly throughout my day. The most important things in life are Faith, Family, and Friends.
Without God none of us would be here so that goes without saying. Family because when the world turns their back on you, family will be there. And friends because my friends are an extension of my family and even if they don't necessarily agree with me they always support me and will be there if I fall.
My mother is the most important woman in my life and I love her with all my heart. Though she and I do not agree about everything she is always there for me when I need her and that is more important than anything.
