New Year

Well it's that time of the year again. Thanksgiving and Christmas have come and gone and now it's about time to make pointless New Year resolutions. How many of us actually stick to what we promise ourselves, and usually others, we will change?

And another question is why do we feel as though we have to wait until a new year to change these things. Why not change what ever it is right at this second. I think we've all said to ourselves, at one time or another, "I'm gonna lose weight." Normally we don't put down whatever we are eating at the moment or take a walk or excise right away. No no usually we decide a later date, i.e. next week or after the weekend, to start this change. And I don't know about you but when I do this it usually doesn't happen.

So my New Year's resolution this year will be to act on any promise I make myself right away. What about you?

Hail Tiger Woods!

Tiger Woods is the most recognizable person in the world. He is one of the greatest golfers of all time. Tiger Woods is not God!!! Is it the fact that our lives are sooooo boring that we are so interested in other peoples personal lives? Or is it the fact that people love to see others fall? Whatever it is, we have to realize that we are all human and are prone to making the same mistakes.

TRY CLEANING UP YOUR OWN BACKYARD!!!

We place athletes and celebrities on pedestals and for what reason? Somewhere between shooting winning shots, holes in one, and making blockbuster movies we lose the fact that they are only human.

On top of that, the police seem as though they have to really make examples of them and put all of their personal business in the papers and all over the web. I've sat here and wondered why did they need to look at Tiger's medical records? He said that it wasn't a domestic dispute so why try to push the investigation forward? If it was a domestic dispute he obviously didn't want to press charges and neither did his wife so what is the point in turning a fire cracker into a nuclear bomb? There are people out there raping little kids and people getting murdered and they are too busy trying to see if Tiger and his wife were fighting.

If Tiger was cheating that's his business. If his wife decides to stay that's her business. It's just like with Kobe when everyone said "I can't believe Vanessa stayed with him." THAT'S MR. AND MRS. BRYANT'S BUSINESS!!! If you are not part of the situation then it's easy for you to say what you would do. But since you are not part of that situation then mind your business!!!

Christopher De'Angelo Rover

Today is a celebration! Five years ago my best friend's homegoing celebration was probably the hardest thing I had to endure. I sat there wondering how was I going to go on without him? Afterwards, as the years went by, I realized how selfish it was to think like that. I realized that God uses us in certain ways that we may never understand and when our work is done, he calls us home. Thank you Lord for letting me cross paths with Chris. He taught me that it was ok to be a man and be sensitive. He showed how to be myself at all times. He gave me years and years of unforgetable laughs and memories. It's not the same down here without you but I know you are looking down on us. We miss you Chris and you will never ever be forgotten. We just wanna keep making you proud. Save a place in paradise for us!!!

No Bitchassness

No matter what job you have, you should act accordingly. Lately I've seen a lot of bitchassness in the work place.

I was shopping at wal-mart the other night and two co workers were putting out merchandise. I went on the next aisle and all of a sudden the shelves started shaking to the point that a few things fell to the ground. I stopped and went around to the other aisle and the two guys that were supposed to be stocking the shelves were fighting. I thought they were serious because they were all over the ground and cursing very loudly. Then after literally about a minute of this they both stood up and laughed. WHAT??!? Yes, they just started laughing and one of them said "I'll get you next time bitch" as they walked away in opposite directions. WHY WOULD YOU BEHAVE LIKE THIS WHILE WORKING!!!!

Recently I was at burger king and the girl taking my order at the drive-thru window was talking on her cell phone when I drove around. I was sitting there waiting to pay her and she had the window closed laughing her ass off. A friend of mines once told me he was at a burger king and the girl behind the counter was talking on her cell phone and the guy standing behind him with regular clothes on went behind the counter and took his order. It turned out that he works there but was off that day but come on...

If you have any crazy stories like this please feel free to leave it in a comment or if you just have anything to say the floor is yours. Until next time...

The Court of Public Opinion...We Find The Defendant...

If the court of public opinion was a real court of law how many of you think that you would have gotten the death penalty a long time ago? It's a good thing that it's all in your mind. The court of public opinion can be very harsh MOST of the time because people usually seperate themselves and from the equation and feed off of their emotions.

We all know what Chris Brown did and trust me I do not encourage or practice hitting women but I'm sure some of you have been asking the same question that I've been asking...what was Rihanna's role in all of this? I wasn't there and I have no idea what really happened but no one has questioned her. She immediately became nothing but the victim. YES what he did was wrong but there are two sides to this story. And also what is Jay-Z's role in all of this? Why is he coming to her aid so fiercely? I mean geez is this a way to win some female fans since your album came out tuesday sept 8th(you're welcome Mr Carter by the way).

My point is this. The people who come out and want an apology from Chris Brown or Michael Vick just baffles me. Chris Brown didn't hit you and Michael Vick didn't harm your pet so why is it necessary that they give public apologies? Chris Brown should apologize to Rihanna and no one else. Michael Vick does not owe everyone in America who owns a dog an "I'm sorry".

These people are here to entertain us. They are not perfect and they are not Jesus Christ they are HUMAN. Humans mess up from time to time. The only thing people should worry about is if Chris Brown gives a good concert or has a good CD and Michael Vick should make NFL defenses look stupid every Sunday. No matter how bad the crime or what sort of lifestyle they live out side of their arenas we are not here to live in their lives just to be entertained for a little while.

A Mother's Love

There are many things in life that we cherish. A car, a house, new shoes, electronics, so on and so on. Many times we forget about the real things in life like love, friends, and family. I am guilty myself of forgetting the important things but we are all human.

Today when I woke up I had so many things on my mind. I was thinking about how to handle some of these jerks at work, what I would eat before work, and what would I be doing this weekend until my grandma said that my mom was sick.

I literally stopped in my tracks and felt my eyes watering. I started thinking about what I would do without my mother. That thought is like a dark road that I dare not proceed down. All day I thought about what is really important to me in life.

Well I must admit that I have to steal something from Terrell Owens. I recently saw the finally of the show and today what he said rang loudly throughout my day. The most important things in life are Faith, Family, and Friends.

Without God none of us would be here so that goes without saying. Family because when the world turns their back on you, family will be there. And friends because my friends are an extension of my family and even if they don't necessarily agree with me they always support me and will be there if I fall.

My mother is the most important woman in my life and I love her with all my heart. Though she and I do not agree about everything she is always there for me when I need her and that is more important than anything.

Marijuana in Maryland

NEW MARKET, Md. - Frederick County sheriff's deputies have arrested a man accused of offering marijuana to store clerks in payment for gasoline.
It allegedly happened Monday about 3 p.m. at the Classic Fuels Store on Old National Pike. Deputies said a 52-year-old man offered marijuana to pay for gasoline, and a clerk in the store called authorities.
The man and his motorcycle were searched, and deputies said they found suspected cocaine, Oxycodone pills and suspected marijuana.

I would like to know if you think marijuana should be legalized (not to pay for gas of course) and if you belive, as some do, that marijuana could save the economy? By the way, the national debt is so high that most calculators can't even fit all the numbers on the screen. Look it up!

No Arms No Service

TAMPA, Fla. – A Florida man born without arms says a Tampa bank would not let him cash a check because he couldn't provide a thumbprint.
Steve Valdez didn't have an account at a Bank of America location in downtown Tampa, where he tried to cash a check from his wife last week. However, Valdez has prosthetic arms and is unable to provide a thumbprint. He says he presented two forms of identification but was still denied.
He says a bank manager told him he could either come back to the bank with his wife or open an account himself.
Bank of America spokeswoman Nicole Nastacie says the bank has apologized to Valdez. Nastacie says the bank should have "offered alternative requirements if an individual is not able to give a thumbprint."

So exactly what the f*ck were they thinking. Did they think he cut his arms off before he got there to scam them? We have to realize that in this perfect world we live in, there are actually people here with handicaps. No matter if it's a birth defect, the result of an accident, or one of those people on world's most dangerous...we have to have alternative methods that can accommodate everyone.

What's Beef?

I was watching one of those hip hop beef documentaries on television and they came to the Nelly versus KRS-1 beef. Now from what I understand it all started because KRS-1 was appalled at Nelly's album sales and basically saying that what Nelly does isn't hip hop. Then once Nelly responded he was appalled that Nelly would show such disrespect to someone of his caliber in hip hop.

Now I'm appalled that he would take such offense at a man protecting his man hood. KRS is one of the best to ever do it but I mean who died and made KRS-1 the hip hop almighty beyond the reaches of anyone's verbal assault. Now he can have his opinion on Nelly's music but I thought it was pathetic when he started trying to reach out and tell people not to buy Nellyville. Just as he was an up and coming artist going after his hip hop elders Nelly has just as much right to return the favor.

I find it funny that when someone reaches a certain status in their career they feel like they can share their opinions and say what they want about anyone and they can't defend themselves. Just like KRS-1 is a man and will drop verbal bombs on anyone he chooses so can Nelly and anyone else who feels attacked and want to take it there. Hip hop has always been and will always be full of many different characters and any artist that doesn't like it is just a hypocrite to the very culture in which you fight for everyday.

Did You Hear Something?

In Florida, a burglar made off with a man's valuables. Later on he came back for the 100lb plasma screen tv that he left in the backyard........while investigators were still in the house. They say they left the tv where it was so that they could dust it for finger prints.

Do you know how pissed they were when they found the television gone? Right under their noses. If they catch this guy or have caught this guy can you even remotely believe the ass whooping they are going to bring with them. If the police have to chase you they always bring a major ass whooping with them (ask the Birmingham, AL police) so imagine stealing something right under their noses.

Two Come, One Leaves

A couple in Detroit, Michigan was at a restaurant on their first date. The male stated that he left his wallet in the females car and went out to get it but didn't return. He didn't just skip out on the bill, he stole her car as well.

The female knew him as "Chris" but that was in fact a fake name. The man's name was really Dejuan McCoy and if you think he's so smart he isn't. The woman had his correct cell number and he had also sent her a picture to her phone.

How smart is that to steal someone's car you are out with on a date. They can give a detailed discription of the car and not to mention can retrieve a picture message you've sent them of your face. Also I had a thought. Did she pick him up from his house? I would hope he wouldn't be that stupid but then again he's not being blamed for being the smartest person in America.

Liberation

Search deep in your cranium into the grey matter

release the thoughts and ideas you've had over the years

Liberate

A controversial thought that people have fought and fought all the way to the top of the mountain

Heads of this confused nation have placed the constraints and restraints designed to hold us back

Attack the notion that norm is norm and fashion is fashionable

Liberation is regardless of the consequence of your action

Factions exist to take the think out of thinking

You're left with ING

HopING, wishING, prayING for the next leader to come save your wellbeING

SingING the old song of I can't

They have captivated your mind and stolen your time with sophisticated technology

TV and mp3, MTV and BET,

Repetitive subliminal messages of how to act and how to dress

Fictional rap wars between east and west

Reality tv thats so far from the truth and liberating music negatively influencing our youth

Liberation is Martin and Malcolm screaming uplifting verbiage

The wise words they quoted and the measure of their courage

Liberation is marching on Washington with a dream of many colors and sitting on buses and refusing to move any further

Liberation is sitting in the class implementing knowledge that benefit your peers and open the ears of the bias, racist, sexist media

Liberation is wearing what they don't and going against the grain leaving a stain on the face of the machine

Liberation is chanting in one loud voice and not going silently into the night

Liberation is new ideas when the old ones don't work

It's the hammer banging the nail through the walls of captivity to a new role of relativity

Relative to me you and all who live and breathe to achieve

Liberation is freeing your mind and thinking outside the box

Not chained to one concept but breaking those locks

Liberation is women voting and me finally equaling a whole man

Equal representation now thats Liberation!

Almost An Early Thanksgiving

Peruvian drug smugglers are finding new and innovative ways to import drugs to the U.S. Just when you were getting your mouth ready for some holiday turkey.....

Police in Peru, acting off of a tip, stopped a bus and searched for possible cocaine hidden somewhere in the baggage area. They found a crate but it wasn't full of cocaine, but rather two turkeys. They noticed that the turkeys looked a bit bloated and when they lifted the feathers in the chest region and noticed a man made seam.

A veterinarian later removed 1.9 kilograms from one turkey and 2.9 kilograms from the other...roughly 11lbs.

So when you eat turkey this holiday season and you start "trippin" don't worry it's just the coke talking.

One Way Ticket

A 39yr old Omaha man accused of raping a 14 year old girl was convicted and now awaiting his sentence. He's facing up to 70yrs in prison and I haven't even gotten to the worst part yet. Well after he raped this girl he did what any 8th grade educated rapist would do....he broke into a church and stole a statue of the Virgin Mary to sell in hopes of getting money to pay for an abortion.

Was he planning to just knock on this girl's door and offer her a ride to the clinic too? I'm just wondering at what point did he want God to book his trip to Hell first class?

This is at the top of the WTF*ckery list so far this week.

Stay In Your Own Lane

What ever happened to doing you? Why can't people stay in their own lane these days? The latest occurence of lane changing is Jay-Z's new song off of his upcoming album D.O.A.(Death Of Autotune).

He never names anyone in particular that he's aiming his verbal assault at but still....I like Jay-Z's music and all but my problem is why is he attacking people that like to use Autotune in their music. If he doesn't like it that's fine....turn the damn station.

Now I know that there are waaaaaaaay too many artist using autotune today and everybody can't be T Pain. But they have the right to make what ever type of music they please.

Yes, I know he's Jay-Z but who the hell is he to tell me what I should listen to and if I were a music artist who the hell is he to tell me what I can and can't do on MY song. Is this a plot by Jay-Z to hype up his fans for his new album or what?

While I'm talking about Jay-Z, I can't believe he has enough pull to get Chris Brown thrown off of the BET awards line-up. He said that he nor Beyonce would perform if Chris Brown was put on the show. I'm sorry but neither one of their performances were outstanding and I don't think people would have not watched the show if they said Jay-Z and Beyonce weren't gonna perform.

If he's bored, rather than picking fights with autotune, why don't he pick a fight with a valid hip hop artist. Probably because the last time he did he was blown out of the water by Nas. Jay-Z you have freedom of speech to blast whomever and whatever you please but since you wanna call yourself the best rapper alive, try picking on RAPPERS!!! Other than that, Stay In Your Lane!!!

Curiosity

I think she floated over to me on a cloud
Butter pecan skin hair blowing in the wind and THAT look in your eye
A story to tell those eyes informed me before I knew you
A story of life
A story of struggle, good times, tragedy and triumph, heartache and strife
Oh that story your eyes told
A story that made me curious, so curious I forgot other things existed
Existence is small and curiosity has stolen the day forever
Never ever have I seen this intrigue in one being from me
This curiosity is like my mistress of the night taking her away to conceal our evil deeds
I'm haunted by it and I need it
Secretly I map out my plan to conceal this mystery escaping me
I must grasp it while your not looking yet right under your nose
I pose as another character in this novel called the world
Sneaking by your eyes and moving past your intellect to the center core where the jewel is encased
Gently I lift the top and decipher the codes that hide THE SECRET, MY SECRET
A momentous breakthrough turns out to be a disguise
I have sacrificed sure footing for the embrace of a lifetime and now I'm trapped
Yea though I walk through this valley I am not comforted
I am defenseless leaving behind my guards for a taste of this evil nectar
Now I reside engulfed in the flames of lies and my heart frozen in Medusa's stare
I sit here in the trap I sprang lead by curiosity and hopes
But a lighted path appears with unseen consequences and possibilities
I slowly rise to my feet and cautiously wander into foggy promises once again
I bring my tools and more from the former mentioned trap but are they enough
I hesitate but with curiosity as my guide I can't be stopped

Lost in Plain Site

So I've been sitting here thinking. I haven't been in a relationship in a long time. I've been ok I guess where I am but there are those nights when you wish you had someone to come home to or someone to listen to you when you're talking. Someone you can get cozy with while watching a movie or just sitting home by candlelight listening to some soft music and having a bottle of wine. While I was thinking about that I had another thought. What is it that I want in a woman. This may sound like a simple question and answer but as I sat here and pondered this simple equation I realized that it's a very complicated answer. You see I've been alone for so long that I'm really not sure what I want. Being in a relationship is a totally different way of thinking. For so long it's been all about what I want and what I like but in a relationship it's less about YOU and more about US. AM I ready for that mode of thinking or have I become too comfortable in this solitary realm in which I reside. Hmm?

I'm really sitting here pondering how does one leave this thinking behind and commit oneself to another. I'm grown now and I'm really not trying to have just a friend here and there I would like something put in cement. But I know I shouldn't go out and consciously look for it and that I should let it find me. They say that it happens when you least expect it but will I be ready?

The Big Mid-Life Crisis

Shaq is known for winning NBA championships and all his nicknames ie The Big Aristotle, Diesel, and Superman. But Shaq on reality television? Shaq is premiering his newest sideshow called Shaq versus where he will challenge other top atheletes in their own sports. It premeired August 18 where he challenged Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Shaq was put through a real NFL combine workout and was no match. Later in the season he will challenge other atheletes such as Michael Phelps, Venus and Serena, Oscar de la Hoya, and more. I need more Shaq on tv like I needed four more years of Bush and Cheney. Why don't he just sit back until October when he will join Lebron James and the Cavaliers and come up short in the NBA playoffs.

It's All Their Favre

Unless you have been dead that last two days and just digging yourself out of the ground the Vikings have signed Brett Favre to a two year contract. It was only weeks ago that Favre himself said that he was completely done with football and he was fine with that decision. Now all of a sudden he has that itch again. I feel like Favre is being very selfish. He owns just about every record possible and his legacy will forever live on so what's left to prove? He did make one statement that I agree with. He said that it's his legacy and he can do what he wants with it. That's true but what about the other quarterbacks that are now behind Favre. They went through hot july two-a-days in full pads. Not to mention Sage Rosenfels was brought in under the impression that he would be battling for the starting job and now where does that leave him. In my opinion he should have to get out there and earn a starting spot just like everyone else. I do wish him well but I just hope Brett Favre can live with the legacy that he will finally leave in this league.
